About the Author
Born and raised in Southern California, I am a mother of 3 incredible sons, and the Savta of 3 beautiful girls. Our family tree blooms across California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.
I was a member of Temple Sinai in Reno, Nevada. And yes, Reform Jews do make Aliyah, and I did so at the ripe ‘old age’ of 53. No biological family living here, but I do have dear friends that have welcomed me into their lives with open arms.
I have been involved in the Hospitality Industry from the tender age of 13, when my parents opened a restaurant. From there, I learned every facet of operating a business, which led me to opening two restaurants of my own. I also taught High School—but of course, it revolved around FOOD! I was a Cooking and Baking Instructor. I also taught an advanced class, where my students learned all of the aspects of running a Student Based Enterprise in our 54 seat café. From safety and sanitation, to planning, budgeting, purchasing, preparing, serving, accounting, and everyone’s favourite, cleaning!
Due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, I am no longer able to work in my chosen profession, because of the demanding hours and heavy physical labor required. But I still find that I am happiest in my own kitchen, and I’ll find any excuse to be there!
